Sabarimala Season 2013-14 Special Trains – Southern Railway

The annual pilgrimage season (Mandalakkaalam) for 2013 – 2014 to the Sabarimala Sree Dharma Shastha temple (dedicated to Lord Ayyappa) in Kerala has started and Southern Railway (SR) has announced special train services for the benefit of Sabari pilgrims in November, December 2013 and January 2014. These trains will run through Tamil Nadu and Kerala and to Karnataka from Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam via Kottayam and Chengannur and also between Nagercoil and Chennai and Trivandrum and Mangalore. What is especially surprising is that most of these trains are being run by the Trivandrum division. However, they are using one single rake to run all these services, all which run once in a week but together effectively they make one daily train, almost. Reservation for these trains will start on Wednesday November 20 2013. These trains will also double up as Winter, Christmas/New Year Special trains as well.
